Following a 45 year career as a bank executive, Lynn Shipley joined The TCI Group-Jerry Petzoldt Agency as an Affiliate Broker. Mr. Shipley retired from banking as President of HomeTrust Bank of Tennessee in January, 2018. He was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of TriSummit Bank and TriSummit Bancorp, Inc. which merged with HomeTrust in 2017. He previously served as President of the TriCities Region of First American National Bank (now Regions Bank) and Senior Lending officer of Bank of Virginia-Southwest (now Wells Fargo) where he began his banking career.
In 2021, Mr. Shipley was bestowed its Lifetime Membership Award by the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce. In 2011, Lynn was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame and in 2012, he received the Lifetime Achievement in Business Award from East Tennessee State University for significant achievement in business and public service.
Mr. Shipley served as president of the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce and President of the United Way of Kingsport. He chaired the Hotel Recruitment Task Force which was instrumental in the development of the MeadowView Marriott Hotel Resort and Conference Center. Active in redevelopment activities, Mr. Shipley chaired the Model City Coalition which crafted the redevelopment plan for Downtown Kingsport. He is the co-founder of the TriCities United Way Day of Caring which has involved United Ways in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia since 1992. He is a past board member of Northeast State Community College Foundation, Girls Incorporated, Kingsport Economic Development Board, Bristol Chamber of Commerce, the Advisory Board for the Chair of Banking and the National Alumni Association Board at East Tennessee State University, Wellmont Health System Foundation Board among others.
Mr. Shipley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from East Tennessee State University and has completed studies at the University Of Virginia School Of Bank Management in addition to numerous other professional courses. He served in the United States Air Force, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1970. Lynn becomes a third generation real estate professional following his father and grandfather. He holds a real estate license in the State of Tennessee and is a member of the Northeast Tennessee Association of Realtors.
